BreitbahnDED – System and Process Development for the Generation of Wide Welding Paths in Laser Metal Deposition with Multi-Spot Optics

The aim of the “BreitbahnDED” project is to generate wide welding paths during laser metal deposition. With the help of multi-spot optics, the temperature distribution is to be optimized for the application of a pore-free, constant layer thickness. The Chair of Applied Laser Technologies (LAT) is working with four project partners to develop the system and process.
The tasks of the LAT include the simulation of temperature distribution with a rotating multi-spot optic. The LAT works together with the project partners to develop, validate and optimize a prototype. To this end, it processes manufactured samples metallographically and characterizes them using light and scanning electron microscopy.
